Sunshine and Perspective

After some bitterly cold weather and a bit of snow we've had some gorgeous weather here this week ... about 60 degrees. It's a refreshing change to see the sun for a bit in the middle of winter, even if only for a couple of days.

This morning as Kabe & I were rushing out the door, heading to work/school, he pushed the button to open the garage door which let the sun in. He exclaimed excitedly, 'Mom look! It's a bright sunny day! It's so beautiful out! And look at the way the sun is shining through those clouds....it's like a road map right up to God!'

If you know Kabe at all, you know this is his general outlook on life....he's such a positive, thoughtful child. What struck me about his statement this morning, is that I don't take the time to slow down and notice or be thankful God's handiwork. Today, I took notice. Thanks to Kabe.

Matthew 18:2-4 (New Living Translation)

2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Blessings

I have a lot to be thankful for in my life and I know I don't take time regularly enough to count those blessings. I am married to my best friend -- a Godly Man and a great dad -- for almost 11 years now! I have a wonderful son who has a tender heart full of compassion. I have parents, siblings, friends and family who love me, whom I love. I have a roof over my head and food to eat. I have a good, merciful, and loving Jesus who loves me, despite all my faults and failures. That's a lot to be thankful for!

Yesterday we celebrated Palm Sunday at church, saying "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Blessed is HE who comes in the Name of the Lord!" Can you even imagine what it would have been like to be in Jerusalem with Jesus as He came riding through on a donkey amid shouts of praise and adoration?

Then, by week's end, Jesus will have made the ultimate sacrifice, taking my sins--your sins, being crucified on a cross for you and for me. Do you know His Blessings?
