Fun photo's

I've been trying to work on understanding my camera in order to take better pictures. I'm amazed and inspired by some of these pictures I see taken by 'amateurs' or 'hobbyist'. I want that to be me. I know that can be me. I have that camera.

Below are a few photos I took. Do you like any of them? Let me know your thoughts...leave a comment if you have a minute.

Transformations

Kabe got some pretty cool Transformers for Christmas. One the he got from Santa Clause, was Bumblebee, which I guess, if you're up on toys for 7-10 year old boys is all the rage. That Santa knows his stuff. Well, Kabe has tried and tried, and wouldn't you know, that thing is hard!

But the finished product is worth all the effort!

Aren't Transformer's cool?!?

Early Morning Business

Today was a full day. We started the day with Kabe & I trying to get a decent self portrait. Don't laugh. It's harder than you think. Yeah, I know it's sized weird. I rotated it so I could get as much of Kabe and as little of my really bad hair in the frame. Like I said, it's easier than it looks.

While we were at it, Kabe thought we should do a silly one, so I thought I would do a face only a mother could love. Well, at least my mom should love it -- she taught me this face & only she can do it better.

Sick and Tired .... or just stupid?

So all day today I've been feeling really lethargic, spacey, and just so tired I'm just not with it. I thought I was coming down with something or trying to fight off something. Here's how bad it was: I don't remember driving to work. God was definitely watching over me.

Let me back up a bit. I have headaches. Not just little ones. Big ones, recurring ones. Frequent ones. I take a lot of medication, some that makes me drowsy, some that give me energy, all to ward off these headaches. Sometimes it works. To keep these medications straight I purchased one of those little pill thingys.
Adam likens me to an eighty-year-old woman thanks to this little box. Nice, huh? This is supposed to assist me in knowing what pills I've taken, when to refill pro actively, and also aids in not having to open 4-5 bottles in one sitting each morning and/or evening.

When I got home from work tonight, I sat down to refill this nifty little case only to realize that this morning when I should have taken the meds for Tuesday AM, I had taken the meds for Tuesday PM. Not Cool.

Yep, it helps determine I 've taken pills, but does it help just plain stupid?

Fun with Friends!

Today Kabe & I both had the day off so we jumped at a chance to spend a good part of the day with some friends. We hopped in the car and traveled about an hour to ChuckECheese, 'Where a Kid can be a Kid!' The kids had a great time and the mom's got to visit. Oh yeah, and of course, the kids won fabulous prizes too.

Friday Nite Fun!

We're spending a fun evening at home watch M.A.S.H. DVD's (hubby's favorites) and playing with Spongebob Lego's. I may even get some knitting in. Does it get any better?

Three Day Weekend!!!

I love a long weekend! One of the perks of my job is the amount of annual leave and the Holidays. Ohhhh yeah, the miscellaneous Holidays. Monday is a Holiday -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day. My little guy doesn't have school either so we have a play date arranged. TGIF!

Today's Thought

Part of my devotional thought from Turning Points by Dr. David Jeremiah that I read this morning stated:
"Next time you look in a mirror, look beyond what you see and try to picture what God sees: the person He saved you to become."

Wow! Think about if you lived, if I lived every day, every hour, every minute believing, remembering this. What an impact we'd have on this world.

A little white stuff....

We woke up to a smattering of snow this morning. It wasn't much, but it made a pretty picture.

TGIF!

Okay - it isn't actually Friday anymore, but Saturday morning. I did have one heck of a Friday, topping off a crazy week of work so I was really happy to have a Friday and what better way to end the week than meeting the girls after work? That's not something I do very often, so it's kind of fun once in a while. Next it was off to meet husband & friends (all sans husband for the evening) for Mexican dinner (Margaritas - YEAH!!) and then a movie. We saw Charlie Wilson's War. Didn't realize it was rated 'R' until we were into it, but it was a okay, true story - very political. We tried out a new sitter for Kabe which was a hit. A fun nite was had by all!

How old is your Brain?

Evidently, just as I've always suspected, I'm an old soul!
Kabe got a Nintendo DS at Christmas and one of the games we recently purchased for it is Brain Age. If you haven't tried it, take a look at the link and see for yourself. It's not just a game. It tests you and gives you a true age score for your brain based upon usage. I got a true age score of 58 -- I'm 35. Adam scored 53. You can test every day so there is hope that we'll eventually score our true age.
Who knew that by working every day and sitting at a computer, keeping up with world events, etc. we weren't actually using our noggin?

Now, a real reason to play the DS!

Mom is Great!

For over a week Kabe has been begging me to make 'Mom is Great Cake'. What is that you wonder? Why, a chocolate sheet cake of course! This is his favorite cake EVER. If I would let him, I think he'd eat half the pan -- in one sitting. He sings 'Mom is Great, made me a chocolate cake!' -- so now he's affectionately changed the cake's name. I'm okay with that. =)
I love this cake too. Not only does it taste great, but it's a recipe from my Great- Grandma Creevan so every time I make it I think of her.

Happy New Year!

Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot
And days of Auld Lang Syne

We actually stayed up until 2am! Can you believe it? Yeah. We're old. Granted, we were playing cards, not out dancing and partying, but we were awake!

So, how about those resolutions? Earlier, I posted about 'No complaints in 2008'. I guess that's a resolution. Although it's a challenge from someone else, it's something I'm choosing to accept. Adam & I didn't really make resolutions this year, but we do have goals. Is that the same thing? I guess so, but I don't feel quite as much pressure. In my mind a resolution means you have resolved yourself to see that something will take place. A goal means you have an end result in mind. Both have the same outcome, possibly by the same means. The idea of resolutions at this time of year indicate perpetual failure for most and for me definite.

Adam is starting this year off with a bang: sickly. Kabe & I headed off to Miss Judy's to watch the Rosebowl earlier today. We were so excited to watch our guys give a good fight. Watch our boys we did.... good fight.... welllll. Win some, lose some. We still love our Fightin' Illini. They'll be back next year with an even better season. Hopefully it won't be another 24 years before our next Rosebowl.

No Complaints Here

No complaints in 2008. That's the motto for this year. I'm wearing my purple wristband and every time I complain I am to move this wristband from one wrist to the other. JP challenged all of us on Sunday to practice this for 21 days straight in order to make a habit.
So far so good.

Ever think of what a wonderful world we could live in if there weren't any complaints? Let it begin with me.
