MLK Day

I love Holidays where I get the day off from work and Kabe has the day off from school. Today has been a lazy day. Once we were up & around Kyler & Brandon came over & played MarioKart with Kabe. I'm tellin' ya, people of all ages love this game!

Now, the three of them are outside again, buildin' snow forts, havin' snowball fights and pullin' each other around on the sled pretending they're on a hill. Oh to be an 8-year-old again.

Finally!

Way back in the beginning of December Adam & I bought our Christmas present to each other, but of course, it wasn't in stock so we waited thinking it would surely be here before Christmas. And we waited. And waited. And finally on January 11th (yes, a Sunday), it arrived.

We've finally joined techie world of LCD screen's, surround sound, and blu ray discs....and after less than a week, we can already say we love it! We're still figuring out how to do stuff with it and which remote to use, but we're enjoying the process. This screen shot is of MarioKart wii. New toys are fun!

Fun Fiesta!

Our small group had a get-together this weekend, a Fiesta themed event, hosted by Pam (on the left) and Kevin (The only pictures I managed to get of Kevin are in the wii slide show below...he's the one teaching people how to use the remote, other than Adam). The evening started out with yummy taco's and all sorts of other Mexican dishes.

We spent much of the evening visiting, getting caught up, and just having a good 'ole time!

There was even crochet!

It was a beautiful evening, so we sat outside for much of it, but once the sun set, it began to get cold so we went inside and decided it was time to begin...da dadada... THE wii WARS!
There are just too many pictures to show them one-by-one, so I've put them in a slide show below, which only captures the best of them!
First we took turns bowling and then we took turns with baseball. TOO FUN! Pictures are great, but they really don't do justice! I see a rematch in our future! GAME ON!

Hula Hoops

Did you ever try a Hula Hoop when you were younger? I always thought they were the coolest thing. I would try and try and have always been totally amazed at all those really cool people who could make it work right. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people.

A few days ago I had the opportunity to try wii fit. One of the activities on it is a Hula Hoop challenge where you start off just using one hula hoop, swaying your hips (virtually...watching your mii [= self] on the TV screen) and then eventually people begin throwing hula hoops at you that you are to try & catch over your head. I thought I would finally be able to redeem myself. Unfortunately, I failed and you know, that stinking mii mocked me! It was just like 1st grade recess all over again.

Wanting some company, trying not to be the only nerd in the room, I talked Adam in to partaking of the challenge.
He wasn't too pleased to be captured digitally.

But he did prove to be quite good at the challenge.

He even managed to catch a number of hula hoops over his head. GO ADAM!

We don't have the wii fit yet. But should the time come that we do own it. I think I'll be practicing the hula hoop a lot...in private.

The Show-Down Low-Down!

We had Mr. & Mrs. Harv over last night for dinner & had a good 'ole time! I made Italian Beef and Bev brought some of the yummiest German Chocolate Pie I think I've ever eaten!

We started off the evening with Mr. Harv & Kabe playing some golf. Then Kabe instructed Miss Bev on how to bowl so we could move on to bowling wars.

Turns out, Miss Bev is a quick learner. Kabe won the game, but Miss Bev game him a good contest!

Miss Bev really enjoyed the wii, so she & Kabe decided they'd try boxing. Boxing is a strenuous game that proved to be rather physical.

Miss Bev hung in there and even won the match! You Go Girl!

Next up, Adam & Mr. Harv played a game of bowling. I can't tell you who won, but this game was not without it's mishaps. During Adam's windup, Kabe got knocked in the head. That'll teach him to sit behind Adam. =)
