Christmas Concert

Kabe's Christmas Program at school was last weekend.

He was so excited about the program, memorizing songs and lines.

This particular song was so so cute....Blue Christmas...much weeping occurred, and here they are leaning on each other for support at the end.

Kabe sang a duet during the song 'Silver Bells'. This is a horrible picture...very bad lighting in the old gym....this is the best I could do. Kabe did a fabulous job!

Here is Kabe with his teacher, Miss Prather. He is really enjoying 2nd grade and his class this year.

The Monarch Parade

This month Kabe's class has been focusing on learning about the life-cycle of butterflies. A part of this process has been to put on a play for several of the other classes at school, as well as for the parents. Friday was the big day. We all assembled in the classroom and our kids did not disappoint! We knew about the few lines Kabe had to memorize, but as a class, there was a lot more memorization both in poem and via song. Of course, we have both video and pictures of the event, but I'm technically challenged & can't figure out how to load the video from our video recorder.... pictures will have to tell this cute little story.

Kabe was a chrysalis in the play and during the speaking groups, he spoke last, explaining that the chrysalis, once fully formed, will come out of it's case and become a beautiful butterfly.

Here he is showing us the butterfly he colored.

He was a little tired of pictures by this point... =)

School!

Today was Kabe's first day of school. He's had a great summer packed with baseball, swimming, friends & fun and now he was ready to go back to school. He went with me last week to register and pick up his tool box (our school has an option of purchasing the classroom supplies in a toolbox rather than running around town trying to find everything). Of course, we've had this for a little over a week, but just last night we finally used the labels that also came with the kit to individually label everything -- including the crayons and markers.

He had a hard time going to sleep he was so excited about the two hours he had school today. I took the day off from work so I'm home catching up on stuff, but then tomorrow, he's at school all day and I'm at work all day.

When we arrived at Kabe's classroom we found his locker and unloaded all his stuff. He has his own locker this year which made him happy. He found his desk and got his stuff unloaded. There was a word-search on his desk so he happily got started on it. His year is off to a great start! And best of all, he gets to ride the bus home. Second grade is SO cool!

School's Out!

First Grade Fun Day was earlier this week. They were supposed to walk to the park three blocks away, but it was raining so games took place in the middle school gym...still very fun. There was even face painting.

I neglected to get a first day of school picture this year, but did get a last day of school picture. Here's a comparison to a picture from a couple weeks before school started...pretty close. I'll try to do better this year.
