Eggs!

Adam wanted to try something new with our Easter Eggs this year. Of course, we still used the regular stuff and died a gazillion eggs in Paas, but Adam read online about wrapping eggs in silk ties. We're never one to do things the easy way, so of course, we had to give it a try!

I tried to capture the process, but as you'll see, these pictures show two different ties.

Adam & his mom got the process down using four hands and twine. Adam says next year, he's going to use string so only two hands will be needed. The twine was what we had on hand and was really difficult to remove.

Once the tie is held in place with tie is trimmed,

and then white cloth is tied over the tie to hold the silk in place.

Then it's placed in the pan. (Read directions from link above...).

And after a LONG boil.... These beauties come out! Very fun, Very Unique eggs!

Easter Day

Our Easter Day was filled with activities. Once we finished our morning egg hunt at home, we got all spiffed up and headed out to breakfast at our favorite pancake house. After we all enjoyed a hearty breakfast, we took off for church. Service was amazing!

We took pictures as a family (left picture), Kabe and Grandma Gene (middle picture), Connie (aka Grandma Gene) and our friend Kevin (bottom).

Easter evening we headed to our friend's Kevin and Debbie's for Easter Dinner. Let me say, they had quite the spread! Lots of fun was had by all.

One of the three tables of people at Kevin & Debbie's (top), Gabe (middle), Kevin & his oldest daughter Aubrey (bottom).

And the best dessert ever! This pictures doesn't come close to doing this dessert the justice it deserves! It's called Bishop's Chocolate Pie....but let me tell you - it's WAY better than the real Bishop's Chocolate Pie.

They even had a very well planned egg hunt for kids and young-at-heart.

By the time bedtime rolled around, we were more than ready to snuggle in!

WEE Hours ... Easter Morning

Happy Easter! He is Risen ... He is Risen Indeed!

Our darling child woke us up at the crack of dawn, before the rooster crows....literally. No, really. At 4:00am. See, my beautiful, tender-hearted, gentle-spirited boy had this deranged idea that the beloved, furry Easter Bunny wasn't going to come for several reasons ... mostly because of his negligent parents.
1) We recycle our eggs and basket and the EB refills it each year. This tormented Kabe when he had gone to bed Saturday night and Adam hadn't gotten Kabe's basket down from the attic.

2) Kabe was worried he hadn't been good enough because we've (mainly me...) lead him to believe the EB runs like Santa Claus 'you better be good for goodness sake'.

Quite the neurotic little boy we've created. Ugh...Now we have to undo this...any ideas???

Well, after the early start, we tried to get him back to bed & finally gave up at 6am.

Kabe had a lot of fun hunting for all the eggs left around our house by the Easter Bunny. That old bunny was pretty tricky too!

Here he is with all his loot!
