Book Review

I just finished reading Thorn in my Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs. I walked by this book several times at Sam's Club when it came out and then the next book came out and I kept walking by it and then it was featured at the church library. Then a fellow blogger put up a review of them and I knew I had a to read them... Thanks Rebecca! I really like Liz in person & have liked her non-fiction books so thought I'd give this a try.

I ended up really liking this book, although I will say it took me about one-third of the book to really get into it. This book is set in about 1789 Scotland and is meant to sort of parallel the Bible story of Jacob, Leah and Rachel....although there is much poetic license. Now that I've read the first book, I can hardly wait to read the second one.

I also just purchase Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller. This book has been around a while, I just haven't taken the time to read it. I'm excited to dig in to this one too. Kabe started swimming lessons today so I have a lot of time sitting on the side of the pool and I'm hoping to spend some of that time with a few quality books. Any thoughts on either of these books or have another one I should add to my list?

I haven't read Liz books in a long time. Heck, I haven't read at all in a long time. But I have read Blue Like Jazz. It's pretty good. He doesn't exactly line up with my theological viewpoint, but he makes great points about many things. And his writing style reminds me so much of M. I keep trying to get him to read it. But it sits on the shelf.

Oh! Just remembered I never did something I needed to do related to someone in your house! Off to do it now!
